Productive Tuesday, Holla!!

Yesterday was  very productive and fulfilling day for me :]
My awesome day started with a new job working at Nexeo.
I am still not sure what I will be doing there,
but I am guessing it is something to do with accounting
because my uncle told them I was an Accounting Major at BYU. .  Say what?
I was Pre-Business Finance a year ago!
But hey-- maybe they need a design team. . . .
ya know? for uniforms or something!!
The day continued on and so did I-
I made two scarves- TWO!!
I was so excited that I went and bought some fabric at Jo-Ann's
I got started on Capri's dress in my sewing class and it is the cutest thing I have ever sewn in my life.
It is a bright blue corduroy fabric with owls on it with a brown contrast collar.
I went to Adopt-a-Grandparent and met the cutest grandma of my life.
She told me above all else to be honest in everything that I do.
She shared the story of how she met her sweet husband-who is now very ill.
I don't want a love like Johnny and June,
I want a love like Norma and Grover
I can't wait to go back and visit her next week.
I finished a 25 page assignment- finally done with papers and projects!
Then Vanessa talked me into going to a spin class- not gonna lie I was scared!
It was so tough, and I didn't think I was going to be able to walk when I got off that bike
Today my legs are wobbly and my rear is real sore.
That was my productive day, and here is one of the scarves I made

The worst sunburn my face has ever experienced

I took Conlee and Capri to swim today and we had so much fun!
It was good to get a little bit of sun,
because I feel like I have spent most of the summer hiding inside with my sewing machine.
About two hours after we came back to the house my face started to burn and itch like crazy.
Now it feels like I have one of those cucumber masks on that makes your face feel all tight and leathery.
I used my microderm abrasion gel thinking my skin was just really dry.
My face rejected the abrasion--and my face bled a little. .
I put on some moisturizer.
It burned like salt in an open wound..
I washed the moisturizer off and the burn only increased. .
"WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY SKIN?
MY FACE IS NOT EVEN RED!!"
(I think to myself whilst I stand under the ceiling fan soothing the burn)
I REMEMBER!
"Exposure to sunlight while using this product may cause skin irritation"
(Warnings from the label on the cream I recently started using on my face)
So I contemplate whether to use the product again or not.
I go for it! And guess what happened?!
It soothed the burning deep inside my skin!
Go figure, the same product that caused me so much pain is the only one that makes it feel better!

This photo has no relation to today, but the face pretty much sums up the way I am feeling

Lace Ruffle skirts

I went a little too crazy at the thrift stores yesterday
I bought about 8 dresses, 4 skirts, and a truckload of lace
I finished two items yesterday!!
One of the items I bought was a black ankle skirt
I cut it off to the knee and added some lace. .
I also found was a cute black and yellow skirt
and added 3 layers of black lace underneath to make it modest
Here are some photos!!
Before I got started
Black ruffles added to yellow skirt
White ruffle skirt

Sewing/Crafting Projects

I am taking SFL 403R next semester, and that means I have to do 126 hours of sewing and crafting. Best class ever, right?
So far I have logged 19 fulfilling hours and here is what I got out of it :)
I took 4 inches out of a skirt I Bought at Ross
I made a birdcage veil for Lexi (Marble) Dollar
I made my Easter dress
I made a Rosette headband to wear to Lexi's wedding
I sold 5 headbands last week
I made a rosette shirt that ended up looking like a rug
I redeemed myself from the rug by making the cute pink neck ruffle shirt

Council, Cowboys, Color, and CapriLee

Next Semester is looking good for the Service Council
We have cowboys (and some indians too) ;]
We have ultimate zoom cameras
We picked up a few line dances at the Rockin' R Ranch
and rode a few horses!

Hike the Y
Allie
Josh, Allie, and myself (talking about unicorns n such)
Lauren and I Rockin those pocketless, high-waist riders!

Lauren Wo (not to be confused with the above mentioned) has dark(er) brown hair!!
and I have darker brown hands and fingernails (gloves are muy importante!!)

Before
During
After!!
Sorry that I failed to brush my hair that day :]

Little Capri pants isn't so little anymore.
She is so much fun to be around and she is such a big talker.
My favorite is when she scrunches up her face and puts her hands in the air and say"WHAT?!"
Other favorite is when you do something nice for her and she says "Nanks"
The other night she was trying to climb into the car window and when Dan tried to grab her she gripped as hard as she could--here are a few snapshots!

Sweet Valentine

In preparation for Valentine's day I was cleaning the kitchen last
night and overheard some boys in the BC singing
SWEET VALENTINE
(Sweet Caroline)
in a most beautiful harmony.
I opened the door for a better listen and sang
along while I swept the floors! It was so cute.

speaking of cute! This was the sweetest valentine I got all day!
Sweet little Capri says Happy Valentine's day Aunt Tara :)

. . .And so does Roo! Thanks for being such a sweetie pie!
you are the cutest :)Oh, Sweet Valentine,
Good times never seem so good,
(SO GOOD! SO GOOD! SO GOOD!)
I've been inclined. . . to believe it never would. . .
Hope everyone had a fabulous day,
can't wait to buy half-price Valentine candy tomorrow!!

Dear John. . .

. . . I hope Jane is a good runner

As a cashier in the MTC I have the splendid opportunity to work with thousands of new missionaries each week.
I now understand why the Lord sends them out at 19.
I really really do love my job. Don't get me wrong, the people I work with are awesome!
However, I could ramble on endlessly about awkward, uncomfortable, and just down right funny stories.
Here are a few highlights, Enjoy. . .

8- the number of times I have been given a mail box number and asked to write a missionary (but only because their family won't write them). . . surprise! further disappointment is on the way; keep checking that mail box. you won't hear from me.

Tropical Dots and Strawberry Daquiri Sobe- what a certain Korean elder bought from my register everyday for 5 weeks. We called him Elder Daquiri :]

here is a conversation from this week.
Lauren- "11:11, make a wish!"
Tara- "I wish it was 11:30 so we could go home"
Random Elder-"I wish it was 2013. . ."

STUPID QUESTIONS

Missionary- "So Tara, (pronounced Tar (the black sticky substance) plus the sound uhhh) Do you have to be a student at BYU to work here in the bookstore?"
Tara- "Yep!"
Missionary- "Cool, so do you go to BYU?"
Tara- "?. . .?. . .?"

Q- "Do you guys sell gum?"
A- "No, you are not allowed to chew gum here."
Q- "I know, but you guys don't have any?"
A- "That's correct"

(MTC Bookstore approx. 7:45 am)
Q- "So is this just a volunteer position, or do you actually get paid?"
A- "It is 7:45 in the morning. . . I get paid."

Just for fun!
So if you have ever been in the Bookstore you know that there are large signs at the registers that read
POSTAGE STAMPS AT EVERY REGISTER!!!
44 cents U.S. 98 cents INTERNATIONAL

Pretty clear right? Well, for some reason everyone asks where they can buy stamps and how much a stamp costs.
Then they get frustrated when they find out that their 40% discount is no good on stamp purchases. Sorry guys, the Federal Government doesn't issue missionary discounts.

That's all, for now. . .

p.s. a special shout out to my two new followers Emily and Aaron. Thank you for following, or at least pretending to follow. One more follower and I will meet my quota for the year! Do it, just follow!
